The SPM function known from previous viflow versions is no longer available and has been replaced by the option of saving your process model in an SQL database. This is called viflow Team Modelling.
If you have saved your process model on an SQL server, you can work together with all modelers in one database (details of the different modes can be found in the viflow help).
System requirements for working with SQL (viflow Team Modelling):
- At least Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher or
- Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express (free*) Link to download
Which rights are required?
- dbcreator to create a new process model and open or save an existing process model
- db_datareader to open an existing process model
- db_datawriter for saving an existing process model
To save a viflow 7 process model on an SQL Server and use a variant of viflow Team Modelling, please proceed as follows:
- Install an SQL Server or use an existing one (no special adjustments necessary)
- The employees who are to work with viflow 7 must either be created on the server or connected to the server via Active Directory (keyword: authentication mode)
- All potential viflow 7 users must be able to establish a connection to the SQL Server
- One of the users ("viflow Admin") is given the right "dbcreator. This user starts viflow 7 and saves a new or existing process model on the SQL Server (Save as > Datababase)
(english Screenshots coming soon)
- Depending on which authentication mode is selected, either "Windows Authentication" or "Specific Credentials" can be used to connect to the server
(english Screenshots coming soon)
- all other users must now be given the rights db_datareader and db_datawriter (adjust database properties in Configuration Manager)
It is possible that we install a SQL Server on your system (the free Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express Edition will be installed) and set it up for viflow Team Modelling. This service is subject to a fee.
*Please note the limitations of the free version
